Obviously, these positions are only open to those with a lot of experience: You can't tell other people what to do until you've got a good idea of how to do it yourself! These professionals generally get paid very well because of their experience in helping companies avoid costly mistakes.
Inherently, someone has to take responsibility for the delivery of a project. Senior managers earn the rewards that come with these positions because of their resilience and experience. If you're investigating I.T. as a new career, then it's very unlikely that you'll be starting in this area!
