ECDL CD-ROM Course : European Computer Driving Licence V4 & V5

The ECDL, or European Computer Driving Licence, is an internationally accepted qualification. It certifies that the holder has knowledge of the basic concepts of Information Technology (I.T.) and has the ability to use a personal computer with common computer applications to a basic level of competency.

ECDL TrainingOur ECDL CD-ROM Course aims to promote and encourage computer literacy to all citizens throughout Europe and internationally, regardless of their background. By developing awareness of IT, users will understand the advantages of using PC's, how their productivity and the accuracy of their work can be increased, and how this knowledge can help them to actively participate in the modern Information Society.

It is suitable for people of all ages, in all environments; for those about to enter the job market as well as those who wish to develop new skills, update existing ones or obtain formal recognition of their practical abilities.

How Do I Get The Certification?

To obtain an ECDL certificate* a candidate must pass a test for each of the 7 units. Unit 1 is largely theoretical, and the remaining 6 are predominantly practical tests. The practical tests assess the candidate's knowledge of basic facts relating to information technology and their ability to use a PC and common computer applications. LearningLolly offers an opportunity for you to study and prepare for the ECDL qualification at a minimum cost. The test can be sat at a local testing facility when it is convenient for the student.

Many students study this program as an ideal introduction to basic computing and office applications without ever taking the certification.

*Why Are There 2 Versions Of The ECDL - V4.0 & V5.0 ?

The ECDL V4.0 syllabus was recently updated to the ECDL V5.0 and migrated to the Office 2007 & Windows 7/Vista platform. The ECDL V4.0 is based around Windows XP & Office 2003.

  • If you want to study the ECDL with the express reason of passing the official exam, then you should study V5.0, as examination centres do not feature the V4.0 anymore. The V5.0 syllabus has also introduced new training around I.T. security.
  • If you want to learn basic I.T. skills based around Windows XP and Office 2003 (maybe these systems are what you use at your place of work) then you could study the ECDL 4.0 syllabus. (Remembering that this syllabus is no longer the 'official' one for the current exam.)

Our Interactive Training CD-ROMs (approved by the ECDL Foundation) cover the official syllabus for either V4.0 or V5.0.
